One Nest

DESIGN | CONSTRUCTION

DELAPLANE, VIRGINIA

The One Nest Project is a study of space, simplicity and sustainability.  We used radical approaches in design, materials and building science to capture the simple notion that we all universally yearn for "happiness at its headquarters.” This 1,000 sq.ft. home was built on a 100-day build cycle. It features modular SIPs construction that can be built in less time and at significantly lower cost. Its structural values and energy performance far exceed that of a traditional home. This home is one of the first in the country to feature magnesium oxide wall board - eliminating exterior siding and interior drywall. the home sits on steel piers and uses 85% less concrete (the largest contributor to carbon emissions in the building industry). The home sits very lightly on the earth. It's stronger and cheaper to build, and is respective of it’s place and natural surroundings.
