Mark Turner | Founder/President

Mark was born and raised in the shadows of the Tetons on his family’s fifth generation ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Mark studied at the University of Notre Dame before getting his Masters in Business Administration at Old Dominion University. Previously asVice President of Construction for Abdo Development, Mark was part of Abdo teams that won the Mayor’s Award for Historical Renovation, the Delta Associates Award for Most Innovative Condominiums, the Washington Business Journal Best Multi Family Project. At Abdo Mark was honored as one of “Top 35 Under 35” by Bisnow Real Estate.

In 2008 Mark started GreenSpur - a design build firm focusing on quality sustainable developments. GreenSpur is an extension of Mark's love for building and enjoyment of the greater outdoors. GreenSpur's value is coupling good design with practical building solutions in order to obtain long term sustainable objectives - which include energy efficiency, healthy lifestyles, low maintenance, social returns on investments and ultimately spaces people enjoy working in and coming home to.

Building some of the area's first carbon neutral homes, GreenSpur's work has been featured in the Washington Post, Washington Times, Traditional Home, Washington Spaces, DC Modern Luxury, MSNBC.COM and Channel 4 and Channel 9 Local News. In partnership with West*Group Development and Charity Works, GreenSpur's Carbon Neutral Home in Mclean, VA won Project of the Year from the National Association of Home Builders, Project of the Year from United States Green Building Council Regional Chapter and was one of the first certified LEED Platinum homes in the area. GreenSpur's work has been featured in DC's Environmental Film Festival 2010 and given a Certificate of Recognition from the Board of Fairfax Supervisors. GreenSpur's carbon neutral home on Capitol Hill just won the award for the Mayors Award for Historic Preservation. Mark was an invited judge for the National Capitol Region LEED home design, a speaker at TW Perry Annual Green Building Conference, NVAR Green Conference, USGBC Carbon Building Program, George Mason University Enginneering Department, Oxford University in the UK. Mark is a board member of Green Mclean and a member of the Salona Task Force.

Mark is an avid fly fisherman and proud father of three.

Nick Cioffi | Director of Construction

Raised in Silver Spring MD, Nick attended Our Lady of Good Counsel HS in Wheaton MD. After graduating, Nick enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving a total of six years between active duty and reserve status. Nick went on to attend Wheeling Jesuit University, in Wheeling WV, receiving a BA in Criminal Justice and was chosen as the captain of his lacrosse team. Nick is a 4th generation Washingtonian, who currently lives on Capitol Hill with his wife Liz and new baby “Cole.” Nick’s family has over 45 years of building experience in the Washington, DC area.
